EldonCard: Home Blood Type Testing Kit
Do you want to know your own or a family member’s blood type? EldonCards are a home blood type test that reveals your blood type within just a few minutes.
The Home Blood Type Test Kit contains everything you need to test your blood type:
The blood type test is easy to use for everyone: You simply prick a tiny hole in your fingertip, let a large drop of blood fall onto an EldonStick and transfer your blood to the four reagent circles. Wait for 40 seconds and the card tells you what blood type you have.
Notice! Be very careful with the lancet – once it has triggered it is out of further use. Be sure to push the lancet firmly against the soft skin on you fingertip before activating it.

The Eldon Blood Type Test contains the EldonCard on which there are four circles with antibody reagents. These antibodies will agglutinate with the corresponding antigens, if you have the antigens in your blood. When you have dropped your blood on the four circles, some of them will start agglutinating and in the guide which comes with the Eldon Blood Type Test you can see which blood type you have according to which antibody fields react.
Knowing your blood type is important for several reasons. First of all you prevent the risk of receiving an incompatible blood type during a surgery or a blood transfusion (today your blood type will be tested and cross-matched against the donor’s blood type which brings the risk of receiving an incompatible blood type to a minimum).
Secondly, knowing your blood type is important if you are pregnant. If your blood is Rh-negative and your baby’s blood is Rh-positive there is a risk that your body will start producing antibodies against your baby’s blood, which can have deathly consequences for the baby.
Therefore, if your blood is Rh-negative and your baby’s blood is Rh-positive, you need to receive a shot called immunoglobulin. Immunoglobulin prevents antibody production and sensitization which means that you won’t produce antibodies against your baby’s blood.
The antibodies are typically not dangerous during your first pregnancy as chances are that you will not be exposed to your baby’s blood until you deliver it. However the antibodies you produce during your first pregnancy will wait until your next pregnancy, and if your second child is Rh-positive too, the antibodies will attack.
Some people would also like to know their blood type in relation to their diet and general health. There is a general belief amongst many people that eating according to your blood type will have a positive effect on your physical and mental health and you general wellbeing.

Lastly knowing your blood type is valuable when you want to help other people who are in need of a blood transfusion to survive. If you are healthy and able to donate blood, we strongly encourage you to do so – your blood can save lives.
To make a donation, you should visit your local Blood Bank or ask your doctor where to go to donate your blood.
